The women of Immanuel Guild promote unity of faith, further the kingdom of God here and abroad, and provide social activities for the women of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
This group of ladies has become a bond of sisterhood that serves the good of many causes as well as nurtures a rich Christian fellowship for its members.
The purpose of Ladies Aid is to aid in Christian living, doing, and giving in whatever capacities it is able. This motto has served Ladies Aid #3 since 1918 when the ladies worked on quilts as a way to earn money for various missions.
Ladies Aid #3 meets the third Tuesday of each month, except for January and February. The rest of the year features one of the minister or staff presenting a topic and then a regular meeting follows using a great deal of the founding ladies agenda.
Twice a year where we go somewhere to eat and then conduct our meeting there. We have an appreciation luncheon in April for the Church staff and a fun white elephant auction. Our Christmas dinner and party in December is another special gathering where we enjoy fellowship and celebrate the birth of our Savior.
Today the Ladies Aid #3 continues with the same passion as the founding group. However, the main source of revenue to fund different projects comes from the annual fall Craft Show in November.
Over the years, Ladies Aid has supported many groups, missions, and worthy projects. A project that we are so proud of is the stained glass window called “Welcoming Jesus” in the Narthex. This was commissioned to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Ladies Aid here at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
To the Glory of God.
Our Visually Impaired Persons (VIP) ministry provides a free meal, program, and fellowship opportunity each month. It is designed for anyone in the area who has limited, low, or no vision and their care providers. Meetings are on the last Tuesday of each month at noon in the Fellowship Hall of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Programs have included resources to assist with low vision, sharing of ideas, devotions, inspirational poetry, and much more. There is no cost. All are welcome!
A once-a-week gathering of men from churches around the greater-Seymour area who get together to play the game of Dartball, a cross between baseball and darts. Immanuel has its own team, and the pastors and vicar are a part of The Pastors team, which is made up mainly of pastors from the Seymour area. Dartball matches fall on Monday nights, and games run from the end of October until mid-March.
Women from Immanuel gather routinely to make quilts to donate to various mission projects. They meet on Thursday mornings in the Quilting Room upstairs.
This branch of ministry is currently in development. If you're interested in helping launch this ministry, contact the church office at 812-522-3118 or fill out the contact us form!
