Martin Luther referred to the Psalms as a “Little Bible,” and Dietrich Bonhoeffer referred to them as “The Prayerbook of the Bible.” Whether you have enjoyed the Psalms for years or have spent very little time in them, this course is designed to help you more fully enjoy the treasure that is ours in the Psalms. Together we will read, interpret, and discuss a different Psalm each week. As we study these prayers, laments, and thanksgivings of God’s people from long ago, we will discover how they give expression and language to our own prayers, laments, and thanksgivings today. In addition, we will experience together how the Word of God is living and active, cutting us to the heart and convicting all of us of our sin, but also raising us to new life and restoring us to our God who has created, redeemed, and sanctified us.
