Thanksgiving Eve Worship

Thanksgiving Eve Worship

November 25, 2020 | Vicar Fredstrom

Welcome to Worship! Around the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, we all have hopes and fantasies of the perfect day. But alongside those fantasies are also the realities. Sometimes the realities are trivial and easily overcome: a dry turkey or wet stuffing. Sometimes the realities are much more challenging: loss of loved ones, the inability to get together this season, and the challenge of knowing where we fit within our families. For many, thanksgiving can be a time of alienation and estrangement. In our Gospel reading, we encounter several individuals who knew what it was like to feel alienated and estranged: the ten lepers. Yet Jesus at his all-powerful word restores those ten lepers to themselves, to their neighbor and their families, and to the gifts of the creation. What God does for those ten lepers He also does for you: Jesus restores you to yourself, your neighbor and your families, and to the gifts of the creation! Happy thanksgiving! “Rise and go on your way, your faith has made you well!”
